Memorial Day and More May Randomness

So now that the month of May is basically over, I feel the need to catch up on a few things. I've already blogged a few things for the month, but small things like "Star Wars Day" got overlooked and we had to celebrate that awesome day. The kids look forward to this day every year and with all the fun Star Wars series these days, it wasn't hard to find something to watch.

I also want to start a new photo series called "the places Benson sleeps" because he just passes out all the time and it's my favorite. He's five now and is as sweet of a cuddler as he was as a baby.
This picture is one of my favorites. He just fell asleep on Chris' chest and then scooted down and snuggled in.
He also loves to climb into my bed in the morning after he wakes up and then fall back asleep snuggled up with me. It's one of my favorites.

Memorial day fell after the last day of school so we had a very chill day and it was really nice.
We hung out and watched movies and then Dad grilled burgers and we ate on the back patio.

We roasted marshmallows and made smores. It was such a beautiful night and the weather was awesome.

We also spent a long time making giant bubbles. The kids loved this. They got these bubble ropes in their "end of school" buckets  but hadn't used them so it was really fun.

And as usual, Clementine got lots of loves.
We also did some side walk chalk and did some fun murals.

I sure loves these kiddos and I'm so excited for a summer of fun together.
We have some great trips planned and family visiting. It's going to be so nice!

We had a great memorial day and a busy but fun month of May.

The day after Memorial day we went to the pool. It was freezing but the kids loved it.

Can't wait for all the summer fun. I love summer time so much but I'm also excited for the prospect of having all my kids in school next school year.
But here's to a wonderful summer of adventure afternoons and chill mornings.

Benson's 5th Birthday

Benson's actual birthday was on Tuesday and we had a "Benson day". It was just him and I at home that day, the rest of the kids were at school and we did everything he wanted that day. It was pretty fun.
We started off our day by getting him a donut and kolache.
Then we went to Walmart and let him pick out a present.
He had his mind set on getting a brown treasure box and luckily we were able to find one at Wal-Mart.

Then we got some sushi for lunch and went home to chill and watch a movie.
After getting the kids from school and playing, Benson requested home made pizza for dinner.
I happily obliged. We had the best time spoiling this sweet 5 year old on his "Benson day"

Then we celebrated this cute boy's 5th birthday with a big party. We had the best time and it was so cute to see him with all his little friends.
Benson decided on a dinosaur theme and he loved how it all came together.
It was pretty fun to decorate for. There were 6 kids total and Benson loved it.

The place settings were so fun. I love all the gold dinosaurs.
And I loved the spiked napkins and dinosaur cups.

But I think my favorite little touches were the dinosaur tails hanging off the back of each kids chairs.
Each kids had a dinosaur mask and a tail to wear during the party and it was pretty adorable.

How cute are these cute dinos?

The entire setup was so fun. Dinosaurs everywhere and I loved the green and gold.

Benson had very specific ideas about his birthday cake this year.
Happily, I was able to make his dreams come true but it was touch and go for a while.

We also served "dinosaur nuggets" and "dinosaur bones"- which were just white chocolate dipped pretzels.
I also made these fun Dinosaur fossil cookies. These took sooo long but they did look super cool.
We had "dinosaur claws" too. They were bugles and they were a huge hit with the kids.
Another fun detail were the dinosaur fossil puzzles. We had the best time putting the puzzles together before the party.

How cute are all these sweet friends. They were so funny as they ate their food and chatted together.

We opened presents and played two games.
One game was a "Tricera-toss" game and the kids threw plastic pool rings onto triceratops horns.
The other game was a dinosaur egg hunt and then we did a science experiment to help the eggs hatch.
We end our party by eating cake and then playing outside.
It was such a great party and we love our little caboose so much!
Happy Birthday Benson!
