Snow Day or Days..

On Thursday we woke up to cold weather but no snow. However due to the approaching storm, school was cancelled- meaning preschool was cancelled. So we spent the day cuddled up inside waiting for the storm to come. Around noon it started spitting an icy/snowy mix. At that point Chris called and said they were shutting down the office and he was headed home. By the time he got home there was a little bit of snow on the roads but not much. We put the kids down for naps and the snow continued.
They napped for 3 hours- it was blissful. Chris and I enjoyed some quiet time and watched the snow fall.
By the time the kids woke up, it was almost dark outside but they could still see the building piles of snow. It was so cute.
We ate dinner and then we finally decorated our Christmas tree.
The next morning Chris stayed home and played with us for a while.
We took the kids outside and played and took them sledding. THEY LOVED IT!
It was so fun. Unfortunately, the snow was about 8 inches deep and it was really hard for Bailey to walk in. She kept getting frustrated when she'd fall down and she'd start yelling. It was funny but so sad too.
If you can tell by this picture, the snow went up to her knees. Poor thing.
The kids were so bundled up they looked liked marshmallows, but they had so much fun!
I swear, kids don't feel the cold like adults do.

Then Daddy took them sledding and that went on for a long time.

Don't you love that picture of Tanner riding on the sled backwards. His little face is so priceless.
Tanner even tried to pull Bailey, but she was too heavy for him.
Sweet Marshmallow Children.
Then Daddy pulled Tanner and I all around. And I'm a little embarrassed to say how quickly he got tired while pulling me with Tanner. I'm going to blame the baby and this pregnancy. Lol.
Then Bailey got on the sled with us and Daddy pulled everyone, all FOUR of us.

Eventually Chris went to work for a little while and then brought home lunch for us. Then he spent the rest of the day with us.
Saturday was spent playing outside and baking. I got all my holiday baking done and we delivered our cookies to our friends. So nice. It's such a simple way to make it feel more like Christmas.

On Sunday we woke up to get ready for church but then we found out church was cancelled. So instead of getting dressed in ties and dresses, we put on our snowsuits and headed back outside.
The snow was so powdery still, but they still have fun.
Tanner thoroughly enjoyed throwing snowballs at everyone.
We worked for about an hour and made a tiny little snowman. We had to keep pouring water over the snow to help it pack better. Once it was done, Bailey dubbed our snowman "Frosty".
He's pretty cute right? And totally edible. I never have large carrots on hand and our fireplace is gas, so we don't have any coal. So I ended up using a cheeto for the nose, chocolate chips for the mouth and whoppers for the eyes. Awesome, right?
Then we came inside and watched "Frosty the Snowman" and just hung out the rest of the day. I love how relaxing a snow day can be.
Tomorrow school is cancelled again, but Chris will be going to work. We will stay home and stay warm until this snow melts. It's been really fun, but if it doesn't end soon, we might go a little stir crazy.
