Holiday Fun in Mountain Home

We drove over to Mtn. Home on Friday night. The traffic was horrible leaving and it took us 4 hours to get to Mtn. Home instead of the typical 2 1/2-3 hours. So miserable.
So we finally arrived at Nanny & Papa's house around 8:30pm.
The next morning we went to the library to watch "The Velveteen Rabbit" play with Nanny. It was completely adorable and the kids loved it. The actors made it silly but enjoyable and the kids watched the whole thing.
Don't you love the look on Tanner's face- he was laughing a lot. Bailey liked it too!

Then we ate lunch at the library cafe and then went home naps. After naps the kids and I played outside with Papa in the snow. Their snow was basically untouched, so we had to play in it.
Bailey loved sledding with Papa. She was smiling so big.
She didn't like sledding on her own. Tanner loved sledding. Can't you see the joy on that boy's face?
Then we made snow angels...
And then we made this massive snowman. I can't even explain how heavy this snowman was. Because the snow had been melting and then freezing and it had rained, the snow was really dense.
It was quite the challenge to get the second ball onto our snowman.
We finally finished our  HUGE frosty and grabbed a couple of pictures next to him.
Saturday night we went to my parents' ward Christmas party. Then it was home for baths and bed.
The next morning we went to church with them. It was fun to see a lot of old friends.

After church and naps we made a gingerbread house.

It took us a while to finish it, but we finally did. The kids love it and can't wait to smash it on Christmas Eve. (that's our tradition)

So every Christmas Eve, the grand kids smash our gingerbread house and get to eat it. They thoroughly enjoy it and since I grew up doing the same, I can remember how fun it was.

After the gingerbread house and dinner we left to drive back home. We will be heading back to Mtn. Home on Christmas Eve to hang out with the family. All my siblings are coming in to town for Christmas and I'm so excited.
This week we are doing the "Lights of the Ozarks", seeing Santa and doing our "minivan express"
Pretty exciting. Can't wait to Christmas!
