Fall Camping at Terra Rose

We had the best time camping this weekend at Terra Rose. We had to go later in the season than we typically like to go, so it was colder at night than we like, but we were able to reserved the cabin so that made the night so much nicer. The kids and I drove to the campground directly after school and we had the best time playing and exploring. It was sunny and beautiful weather. It really was the perfect day.
Benson really enjoys the outdoors. It seems crazy that we were just here in April and Benson wasn't even walking- now he's so mobile and crazy.
We snacked on marshmallows and Cheetos while we waited for Dad to arrive.
Not the healthiest snack choices, but the kids loved it.

The rope swing was a huge hit again.
I love these pictures of all four kids swinging together.
They had so much fun!

Tanner and I also played a few rounds of tether-ball. He's getting pretty good.
Tuck and Benson loved the slide. They are seriously the cutest together.
And this boy and his gorgeous eyes. How can I ever say no to him?
Bailey and Tanner played well on the teeter totter because they are so close in size. It was perfect.
After playing, we enjoyed more mallows and Cheetos. Dad arrived at this point and started working on getting a fire going.
It got cold really fast at this point because the sun started to go down.
So Chris started working quickly and we were able to cook the kids hot dogs
Tanner was a big helper and kept our little fire going long enough to roast hot dogs and some s'mores.

After eating our fill of s'mores, we went up to the cabin and the kids got changed into their PJ's. Then they all wanted to hang out in the loft.
The kids had the best time collecting dead lady bugs from the loft and putting them in their bug boxes. It was equal parts disgusting and entertaining.

We slept great. Tanner got to sleep up in the loft and he thought he was so big. Bailey and Tuck shared a bed on the floor and Benson was in the pack-n-play.
The next morning Dad made us breakfast burritos and then it was back outside for more playing.
The kids put on a cute little play they dubbed "the weird play".
They thought they were hilarious. Chris and I were cracking up at our weird kids.

Benson was pretty thrilled when they invited him onto the stage to perform with them.
I love these little weirdos!

Then we discovered a little cat roaming around the camp site and that was the most exciting that has ever happened apparently because the kids could not stop following the cat and petting it.

This face. He owns my heart.
Tucker and the cat became fast friends. It was pretty adorable. Tucker just sat down the cat walked over and hung out next to him for the longest time.
Eventually Benson wanted to pet the cat, so Tucker helped him be careful and soft. It was pretty cute.

Meanwhile, Tanner and Bailey were exploring and searching for bugs anywhere they could
I found these bug boxes on clearance for $1.50 and it was the perfect addition to our little camp out.

Then we played some more. Tanner loves playing horseshoes. He totally beat both Mom and Dad.
The boys did some more swinging.

And Daddy and Tucker investigated the leaves and bugs that she collected.
How cute are the boys? I love them so!
We had a great time camping. Times like this remind me how much I have to be grateful for. The kids play so well together when there isn't electronics or tons of toys. The simple life is the best life and I can definitely see the appeal of making less into more. We look forward to many more camping trips in the future.
