Summer Fun & Band Camp

Between summer camps, vacations and visiting family, we've snuck in a few fun family activities.

Chris was gone for 2 weeks for annual training, so I had a lot of single parenting this summer.  

One day I took the kids to see "Inside Out 2".  We all really loved it. I may or may not have cried during the movie. It felt all too real as my kids continue to grow up and we enter these new stage of teenager and puberty. 

We also spent about 30 minutes to an hour each day doing Lego. We called it our "creative time" and we were able to rebuild a bunch of the kids Lego sets that had been broken over the past year.

Tucker and I worked really hard to rebuild one of his Lego houses. It took so many hours but it was worth it.  

After Chris got home from annual training, we were able to go to the temple together. It's so nice to be able to leave our kids and just take off to the temple whenever we want. With Chris not working right now, it's been so easy. 

We also took the kids to the library to get lunch multiple times. We also would check out books and we tried hard to encourage reading this summer. 

One day after getting a lunch from the library, we took the kids to get sno-cones. This is a summer tradition and the kids look forward to it so much. 

We also had lots of swimdates with friends. 
We would meet up with the Lowdens, Hendersons and Quales so the kids could play. 
The kids really loved the Quale's neighborhood pool. They had a great time playing and us moms were able to just sit and chat. It was so nice. 

We also met up at the aquatic center multiple times. We tried to have weekly playdates, but it didn't always work out. 

We ended our summer with Band Camp. At this point we had come back from our trips and school was only a couple weeks away. 
Tanner started High School Band this summer and went to frequent practices over the summer. But during the last two weeks of July, Band camp started and it was intense. 

It was every day from 7:30 am to 7 pm. They worked hard, sweated like crazy and he came home so tired everyday. But he did it and I'm proud of the kid. 

Now we are getting ready for school to start and I can hardly believe it. I'm not ready. I love summer and I'm not ready for the early mornings. Tanner starts seminary this year so its going to be extra early every day from here on out. I'M NOT READY!!
