It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

After we got home from Mtn. Home for Thanksgiving, we started getting ready for Christmas.
We got our tree up on Sunday and the kids enjoyed decorating it that evening.

This is one of my favorite pics to take every year. I love sitting on the couch with Chris and watching our kids decorate together.
Then today after the kids went to school, I brought Clementine inside and decorated the rest of the house for Christmas. It was so nice.
I put "The Forgotten Carols" on the tv and watched while I decorated. It was such a nice relaxing day and I really enjoyed it. This is my first year having all my kids in school during the holiday season and I've never had a quiet house to myself  all day while I decorated. Clementine loves to be inside on her little bed mat and so she sits still and quiet so she can stay. She did indulge me with a picture of her wearing a Santa hat. She looked so cute.

I can hardly wait for all the holiday fun to start. Stay tuned for our "Light the World" kickoff and our elf on the shelf return. It's going to be lots of fun.

Thanksgiving Break in Mountain Home

We just got home from a wonderful week in Mtn. Home with all the Drake family. Aunt Sarah and Aunt Laura drove over early and came from Utah with the Allred kids. Uncle Joseph and his family came up from Texas. We arrived Sunday after church and Uncle David and Aunt Michelle drove over with Uncle Johnny and arrived on Tuesday. It was so nice to be all together. We couldn't wait to have so much time with all the cousins together.
Most of the week looked like this. The kids were constantly together, drawing, coloring, playing games, playing outside. It was beautiful weather and we took full advantage.
Bailey was obsessed with the neighbor's dog. She always misses Clementine when we leave.
So she spent a lot of time outside with the dogs. This huge one was her favorite.
On Thanksgiving we worked hard on dinner while the kids played. To keep the kids entertained, I had bought these cute thanksgiving themed painting kits. The younger kids loved them. Tanner and Clark were too cool, but everyone else loved them.

Eventually we had thanksgiving dinner and it was amazingly delicious. I didn't get any pictures of our spread but just trust that it was sooo good.

Later we had dessert and with 8 different kinds of desserts you can imagine how much we enjoyed it.

On Friday we took family pictures. These actually weren't as hard as usual but I forgot my nice camera so getting a big family picture was difficult.

However, we  did get some cute shots of Nanny and Papa with their Grandkids.

And we got a cute sibling shot. I sure love these people of mine!

We also got a quick family shot. I love it!
Then Tucker really wanted a picture of just the two of us.
He had been sad that Bailey and I got a picture together during our family photo shoot in October but I didn't get one with him. I love that he wanted one with me. Sweet boy.

Then when Benson saw Tucker getting his picture, he wanted one too.
And Tanner wanted one too. I sure love my boys!

After the pictures were over, Papa introduced everyone to his rocket launchers.
All the kids made paper rockets and he taught us how to launch them. The kids loved it!

Saturday we got to have a "Girls Day"  with Aunt Robin and it was so fun. We went to lunch at "El Charro" and then did some shopping. This was a tradition we had a with Grams before she passed and we love remembering her in this way.
Michelle and I had to document us being the only ones to get drinks other than water. I'd never had a pina colada with sprinkles but it was festive.

We had a great time shopping and looking for treasures.

While we were gone, Chris and Tanner left for Tanner's first hunting trip.
They went hunting with Bro. Wiggins from the Mtn. Home ward and the enjoyed themselves.
Sadly, they didn't get anything but they had fun and Tanner wants to go again, so I guess it was successful.
There was also a lot of board gaming going on. These four had so much fun and they secluded themselves in the piano room where no one would bother them.

Our final big event was the traditional cousins christmas pj picture.
This year was the easiest year yet. Even Grant and Benson cooperated. It was amazing.
I had to snag one of my kids too and then Bailey wanted one with Grant too. Grant was the real MVP this time and happily took pictures with multiple cousins who were obsessed with him. It was pretty adorable.

Because the kids did so good on their pajama pictures, they all got "Papa Shakes" which is the best reward you could ask for. The kids were thrilled and we were all happy that the picture was over.
Pictures were followed by lots more game playing, snuggling and movie watching.

It was such a great week and I'm so very thankful for my family. We are so blessed to have such a great family. And I'm grateful that we love being together. Happy Thanksgiving.
How onto everything Christmas!

School Fun and More

This school year has been flying by and watching Benson thrive so much also makes him seem so much older. So, on the rare occasion that he falls asleep next to me or comes into my room for snuggles, I cherish them all the more.

We were lucky to have Nanny and Papa come visit in early November for a women's conference with Sis. Bednar. Nanny and I were able to go and Papa hung out with the kiddos.
It was a wonderful conference and Nanny and I really enjoyed it.
On Sunday after church we went to visit the temple.
It's so close to being done.
We had to get a group picture- it's so beautiful and we can't wait for it to open.
It was a nice visit with Nanny and Papa!

We also started a 10-day electronic detox. Our kids struggle so much with tablet time and after they have any time on screens it feels like they are more contentious. So we decided to try 10 days of no electronics. It's been hard but so good for us. We've been playing more games, spending time reading together and just enjoying each other more
I love seeing Tucker and Benson play together like this and I had to grab a picture. They played together like this for over 40 mins. It was so cute to watch.
This poor dog, sometimes I don't think she knew what she was signing up for when we brought her home. She gets so much love and is always being hugged or snuggled.
We spent one Friday night at our friend's house, pretending to camp.
We had wanted to camp with the Lott family but this particular weekend had record low temperatures.
So instead, we ended up at their house making dutch oven meals and just enjoying the camp fire.
Even with the huge camp fire, we were still cold. So after we finished our dinner and dessert, we went into their house and played games. We had lots of fun and the kids all played together so nicely.
It was a great night.

Another fun event was Bailey's first band concert. She plays the clarinet and she loves it.
She played well and really enjoyed it!

Just a week later, Tanner had his band concert and it was so fun. It was incredible to see the difference between just one year of experience. It was fun to hear each section of the band play their own song and hear their talent individually. Tanner plays the Baritone sax and he loves it.
Band is Tanner's thing and he really enjoys it. It's so fun to see him in his element.

Now it's almost time for the Christmas season. Stay tuned for many more updates. It's going to be a crazy busy month!
