Happy New Year 2022

We had a very nice New Year's Eve. The last few years we've been celebrating in a quiet way by ourselves and its been really nice and chill.
We started a tradition, letting the kids each pick out their favorite desserts and appetizers. They love it and it makes the night so fun.
Before we started partying and eating, we took some pictures. I love how they turned out.

We also served rootbeer floats and freezes. They were delicious.

Tucker picked out  shrimp cocktails for his favorite appetizers and everyone loved it.

Benson fell asleep promptly after dinner and had a nice long nap.
(Spoiler alert- this kid made it til midnight)
We spent the night playing games and watching movies. We got a new game called "Skull King" and we all enjoyed it. We also played Tucker's new minecraft game and a few of our older ones. We had a great time.
We had cupcakes later. The kids wanted to try all the flavors so we cut them in half and let the kids try the different flavors. Benson woke up in time for more food. That boy has a nose for sweets.

Then we went outside to shoot off our fireworks. This is always a new year's eve favorite for the kids. This year it was pretty cold and it had rained so it was wet, but this didn't stop us.

It was lots of fun. Then we went back inside and put a movie on for all of us to watch. Tucker and Tanner fell asleep watching the movie but Bailey and Benson made it to midnight. We poured them some sparkling cider and and rang in the new year with them and then tucked them back into bed and Chris and I went to bed too. It's getting harder and harder to last until midnight these days.

It's strange how different this new year feels compared to last year. COVID is still raging. It's a different variant but its still very contagious. Even still, the world doesn't seem so dark. We are making plans for the future and it's almost like life is trying to resume.
I even set some more goals this year. I'm very excited for normal life to resume. I'm praying it keeps getting better. Happy New Year !!!
