Has it really been three months since we started preschool? Crazy. Well here are the lessons we did during the month.
Letter "J" Week: J is for Jelly Beans. We learned about the letter "J". We traced the letter "J" and talked about what sound it makes. We did a jelly bean counting game, jelly bean graphing and a jelly bean matching game. Then we did some pattern recognition and made him this jelly bean bracelet and finally made a Jelly bean "J".
J is for Jellyfish. Today we learned all about jellyfish. We talked about where they live and what they eat. We learned about how some jellyfish sting people- so we have to be careful. We traced the letter "J" and did a letter "J" hunt. We did some jellyfish coloring pages and then made this jelly fish in a bottle. (Tanner LOVES his jellyfish!!!) Can you see it?
J is for Jungle. We learned all about the jungle. We talked about what kind of animals live in the jungle. We did a matching game with monkeys and bananas. We learned some new shapes. We did a "Walking through the Jungle" song and made different animal sounds. And then we read the "5 Little Monkeys sitting in a Tree" and we made monkey and crocodile finger puppets to go along with the story.
Letter K week: K is for Kangaroo. We learned about the letter "K". We talked about what sound it makes. We did a letter "K" hunt. We put kangaroos in order by size and by number. We did a kangaroo dice game and graphed which color kangaroo the dice landed on each time. We hopped/jumped like Kangaroos all around the house. We talked about how Kangaroos carry their babies in their pouch and then we made this little Mommy and Baby Kangaroo for Tanner to play with.
K is for King: We talked about what sound the letter "K" makes. We traced the letter '"K". We did a king coloring page. We traced a crown. Then we read "King Bidgood's in the Bathtub" (one of our favorite books) and we made Tanner his own crown. You may now call him "King Tanner."
K is for Kite. We learned about the letter "K". We talked about the sound it makes. We traced the letter "K". We did a kite coloring page. We did a matching game with kites and kite tails. We did a kite puzzle and then made our own kite. As soon as the warms up we are going outside to try and fly it. (And if it doesn't fly, I have a backup kite that I bought for him that I know will fly!!!)
Letter "L" Week: L is for Lego. This was probably one of Tanner's favorite lessons so far. My boy loves Lego's!!! We started out talking about the letter "L" and making the "la" sound. Then we traced the letter "L". Then we used Lego's to solve a maze. We filled his dump truck with Lego's and then counted them after we dumped them out. We did some pattern recognition activities and a number matching game with Lego's. Then we made Lego jello and while it was setting up- we played and played and played some more with Lego's. Such a fun lesson. (This picture doesn't do our Lego jello justice. It was really cute and Tanner devoured it afterwards!)
L is for Lion. We talked about Lions. We traced the letter "L" again. We did a lion coloring page. We played a spin the tail on the lion game. We did a connect the dots lion page. A shape counting game and then made this little lion face. Oh and crawled around the house roaring like lions for a VERY long time!
L is for Lizard. We learned all about lizards. We talked about how they can change colors to blend in and how they can remove their tails. We traced the letter "L" a bunch of times and then made a letter "L" lizard. Then we made a beaded lizard lanyard which Tanner immediately named "Star Wars Lizard". haha
We only got through three letters this month because we took a break for Thanksgiving. We had friends in town, staying with us, and I just couldn't fit in preschool lessons with everything else.
But Tanner's doing great. He can sing the entire ABC song and he can almost count to 20.
